CAMPING

This weekend my little family and some friends went into the wilderness.  Don't take me for the girl who hikes in 7 miles with a pack, a flint and some trail mix.  That was the me before the kid.  Now we roll in with an air bed and some Egyptian cotton.  Then we chill.  Nature was my bedroom last night.  It was amazing.  The crickets and the creek far surpass what I hear as I sit here and type... the neighbor's AC, sirens, the distant highway.  I want to live with the crickets.  You guys are going to need to buy more dresses.

SUSIE + TALIA PART II

Never has picking up coffee + a tire looked so damn good.

SUSIE + TALIA PART I

Today I was driving through my hood after a day of surf in Malibu.  I saw two girls that made me turn around in my seat, and literally stick my hand out the window and give them a big nerdy thumbs up.  It was too amazing.  The fashions, the youth, and their wheels.  It astonished me.

PAPER MAGAZINE LIKES IT

CHECK IT OUT HERE.  WOO HOO

OSWALT + LEETE

I was missing my friend Sara Oswalt Leete this morning.   I peeked in on her blog, PURVEYOR DESIGN.  Sara has an amazing eye, just like her mother Karen and her sister Claire.  I love these girls. I found a photo of a JK pillow and one of my favorite paintings that Claire did of our friend Matthew Frost in Sara's house.  Looking at a friend's journal is a far cry from visiting, but it is something... and I will take it!

THREE DAYS

The last three days were filled with wonder, excitement, hilarity, and travel.  I wrapped up my last sales appointment in NY at my friend Andrew's studio.  It was a superb week in his space, and I was moved deeply by photos from his new book FLOWER.  I went back to the upper west side where I proceeded to lock myself out on the stoop for 2.5 hours that night in bare feet and my Grateful Dead pajamas.  88th and Amsterdam had never seen the likes.  The next morning I got on a plane to Illinois, were my son was on vacation with Gram and Gramp.  He rode horses, we checked out the stock car races, we laughed, we ran, and then we ran out of steam.   The next day we boarded a plane back to Sunny California.  Whirlwind.  Happiness

OFF

Dropped my babe at the farm. Off to NY with my new Vivier Weekender bag. My dad packed me a lunch. Sandwich, a small bag of raisins, a small bag of walnuts, and a small bag of chocolate chips. Sensible, moderate, and delightful... Just like the man who packed it. I feel cared for.

The LAB and SAM FARRAR

One evening a few months ago I was sitting on the big ass leather couch at Steph and Sam Farrar's house in a whisky induced haze.  Sam played me a song.  It was Forever by the band HAIM.  It was like Casey Kasem entered Sam's mind, and dedicated the perfect song to me.  Then and there I had a vision.  The next day I set out on a mission.  Yesterday, The LAB magazine arrived at my doorstep.  There it was... whiskey induced vision come to fruition.  I love when alcohol and creativity make good.  The cover was shot by JKSS2103 muse, the talented Hilary Walsh.  Rad-ness all around.
